TL;DR

In Arizona, the Arizona Public Service Company (APS), Salt River Project (SRP), Tucson Electric Power (TEP), and Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEH) offer significant rebates to offset the cost of Level 2 EV charger installation. You (the homeowner) can apply for them directly. Rebates are usually issued 6-8 weeks after application.

You should review the program details carefully as each has specific requirements:

  1. You will need to be an existing customer with the utility provider.
  2. APS, SRP, and TEP offer charger-only rebates while MEH's program will also cover up to 50% of installation and permit costs.
  3. APS, SRP, and MEH only provide rebates for eligible WiFi-enabled smart chargers.
  4. TEP's rebate amount varies based on charger amperage.

In addition, you may be eligible for the US Federal Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Tax Credit for EV charger hardware and EV charger installation costs.
